What's New For the 2020 Hyundai Ioniq?

All of the Hyundai Ioniq models (standard hybrid, plugin hybrid, and fully electric) feature a new exterior design. The interior has also been redesigned, featuring a larger base-model infotainment screen, now 8" diagonally. A new driver assistance system, branded as SmartSense, is also standard on all models.

In terms of performance, the full Electric model of the Hyundai Ioniq features a larger battery pack, which increases the range by over 65 miles per charge over the previous year's model for a total of 170 miles. The charger on the new electric Ioniq is also more powerful, with a 7.2 kW capacity, allowing for faster recharging of the vehicle.

Which Features are Available for 2020?

The Hyundai Ioniq infotainment system comes equipped with Apple's CarPlay system, Android Auto, automatic climate control, and USB connectivity, with SiriusXM Satellite Radio also available as a subscription service. The Ioniq's top trim options feature an even larger 10.3" infotainment screen and include a navigation system. The midlevel SE Hybrid also features heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat.

2020 Hyundai IoniqThe powertrain on the electric model has increased to 134 hp, and can fully recharge in a little over three hours at a 240V outlet. At a standard 120V outlet, it takes a little less than nine hours to recharge.

The EPA estimate for miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent (MPGe) is 145 MPGe (for city miles) and 121 MPGe on the highway, while the plugin hybrid allows for 29 miles of electric-based driving range off of a 1.6L inline-four cylinder engine, and the base standard hybrid model is the most fuel-efficient hybrid available, averaging over 50 mpg in real-world drive testing. All Hyundai Ioniq models feature steering wheel paddles which allow the driver to control regenerative braking levels.
