J.D. Power has released their annual U.S. Initial Quality Study and we are proud to announce that Hyundai received high praises. The automaker ranked fourth place among all brands in the study and second among all non-premium brands. Additionally, the 2015 Hyundai Tucson and Accent won in their individual segments for achieving the highest initial quality - an honor given to select brand-new models throughout the industry.
For 29 years, J.D. Power has conducted an annual Initial Quality Study, where they measure a new vehicle's quality at 90 days of ownership. Due to few reported complaints about the 2015 Tucson and Accent, both cars were honored in this year's Initial Quality Study. The Tucson was the big winner in the small SUV segment, while the Accent rose to the top of the small-car segment. This is the second consecutive year the Accent beat out the competition in the small-car segment, taking home the highest honor.
"Small SUVs and small cars are some of the most popular vehicles on the road today and nearly every automaker has products that compete in these segments, giving consumers many options to choose from," said Mircea Gradu, executive director, engineering and quality, Hyundai Motor America. "Both the Accent and Tucson were ranked highest in their crowded segments for high quality, which provides owners peace of mind when it comes to an important financial purchase."
Aside from the Tucson and Accent, the Santa Fe and Elantra earned second place positions for their outstanding quality. As long as Hyundai continues to build dependable, well-crafted vehicles, they are sure to be recognized in J.D. Power's U.S. Initial Quality Study in the future.
