Hyundai Sonata Engine Specs

The base powerplant is a 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder that comes attached to a six-speed automatic with SHIFTRONIC and Drive Mode Select. It produces 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. The Eco gets its own 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine with a seven-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch transmission. The 1.6L generates a respectable 178 hp and 195 torque, while achieving an EPA-estimated 26 city/36 highway. There's also a 2.0-liter turbocharged GDI engine with an eight-speed automatic on the Sport 2.0T and Limited 2.0T. This setup will get you the most power: 245 hp and 260 torque.

Safety Features on the 2018 Hyundai Sonata

In addition, the available Lane Departure Warning system now includes Lane Keep Assist. Other available driver-assist options include Smart Cruise Control with Start-Stop, automatic high beam assist and rear parking assistance. The 2018 Hyundai Sonata is projected to once again receive an IIHS Top Safety Pick and 5-Star rating from the NHTSA.
