Sonata Earns Top Safety Award

Safety is the name of the game for Hyundai and it shows in the new Sonata. The 2018 Hyundai Sonata achieved the Insurance institute of Highway Safety’s highest honor, the 2017 Top Safety Pick+ award, highlighting the automaker’s commitment to safety.

“Above all other things, safety of the occupants is the single most important factor when designing and engineering Hyundai vehicles,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, corporate and digital planning, Hyundai Motor America.

Selected vehicles have to achieve good ratings in all five of the Institute’s crashworthiness tests, including moderate overlap crash test, small overlap crash test, side roof strength, and head restraints. The winners must also come equipped with an optional front crash prevention system that earns a superior or advanced rating.

Every 2018 Sonata in Springfield comes packed with state-of-the art standards like seven airbags, antilock brakes and a rearview camera, to name just a few. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert is also included.
