The 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has been given a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. When outfitted with the optional front crash prevention system, the SUV proves to be incredibly secure and should be considered a top pick among new car buyers in the market for a safe, capable SUV.

"The Santa Fe Sport's optional front crash prevention system earns a superior rating,” said IIHS's Chief Research Officer, David Zuby. “The Santa Fe Sport avoided collisions in IIHS track tests at 12 mph (km/h) and 25 mph (km/h). The system also has a forward collision warning component that meets the NHTSA criteria."

In addition to receiving a "Superior" rating for its front crash prevention system, the 2017 Santa Fe Sport received "Good" ratings in the overlap front, small overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints tests. These stellar scores, along with its front crash prevention system rating, are what helped the SUV nab a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS.
