To warn drivers against purchasing counterfeit parts for their cars or SUVs, Hyundai has launched a campaign highlighting the dangers of using non-Hyundai parts. In a series of videos released on their YouTube channel, Hyundai gives car owners a dramatic look into what can happen if they choose to outfit their vehicles with recycled or counterfeit components.

In the first video released by Hyundai, which you can see above, the company shows the difference between the activation of OEM airbags and counterfeit ones during an accident. The results are shocking, with the non-OEM part failing to protect the dummy featured in the simulated crash, while the genuine Hyundai airbag properly inflates, protecting the driver. These are the real-life dangers Hyundai owners can encounter when utilizing cheap parts.

At Hyundai, we understand the cost of parts can sometimes be a burden for drivers, but ask yourself: is buying a low-priced counterfeit part worth your safety? Purchasing recycled and/or non-Hyundai parts may seem like a good idea to save money, but the truth is these parts are unsafe for longtime use. Because these components are not pre-designed to meet Hyundai’s engineering specifications, they can negatively impact the car’s crash-worthiness.

To ensure your car is being properly handled and repaired using genuine OEM Hyundai parts, we suggest avoiding independent repair shops and bringing your car directly to our service center at Reliable Hyundai. At our dealership, our technicians only use factory Hyundai parts, so you can rest easy knowing your car is safe and secure.
