There have been talks about a Genesis sub-brand for years in the auto industry and now Hyundai has officially confirmed that the Genesis name will indeed be used to launch their new high-end luxury line. The Genesis model, among other luxury cars, will live under the sub-brand, differentiating them from other cars in Hyundai's roster.

The debut of an all-new Equus model, the G90, will signify the start of the Genesis brand and its fresh naming scheme. Each new model launched under the brand will feature the signature G and a number as its official moniker. The upcoming Genesis model is already being touted as the G80, while a new midsize model scheduled to debut in 2017 will be called the G70. By 2020, the sub-brand will have a total of six models in its lineup, including a sport coupe and luxury SUV.

"The Genesis models will provide technological innovation, excellent driving performance and luxury to customers," said Woong-Chul Yang, vice chairman of Hyundai Motor. "Every Genesis model will be created with the needs of our customers in mind, so the resulting car will perfectly meet their needs without any unnecessary burden or excess."

To further separate the Genesis sub-brand from Hyundai’s regular roster, the newly assembled Prestige Design Division will specifically cater to the new models. If you'd like to see their finished work, be on the lookout for the future models at Reliable Hyundai.
