The long wait for Android Auto is finally over. Hyundai has officially become the first carmaker to offer the system, which is now available on the 2015 Hyundai Sonata with Navigation at Reliable Hyundai. By utilizing smartphone integration, the technology allows drivers to take advantage of their smartphone's features through the car's screens and controls, reducing driver distraction.
The 2015 Hyundai Sonata is the first vehicle by the brand to receive Android Auto. It will eventually be offered on other models in Hyundai's lineup, but not until a later date. As of now, existing owners of the 2015 Sonata with Navigation can receive a software update containing Android Auto from Reliable Hyundai. By end of summer, owners will be able to download the system onto a USB and upload it in their car with no assistance from the dealership. Those who want to utilize Android Auto will also have to download the Android Auto companion app on their phone and sync their phone to the car using a micro USB cable. By following these instructions, drivers will then be able to access music from their phone, import calendar appointments, utilize Google Maps and operate certain apps, including Spotify, NPR, iHeartRadio, Skype and others.
