Rumors have been circulating for months that Hyundai would be altering engine options for the incoming 2015 Genesis Coupe, and now, a spokesperson for the automaker has come forward to announce that this is indeed the truth. The Coupe, which has been offering buyers the choice between a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 3.8L V-6 engine, will soon be saying adios to its four-cylinder option, leaving the V6 as the sole engine for the 2015 model.
Hyundai spokesperson Jim Trainor recently confirmed the rumor to Autoblog stating, "The 2.0L Turbo engine will be discontinued starting with the 2015 model year, allowing us to reposition Genesis Coupe with its more premium performance buyer."
Trainor did not give any further information about the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in Springfield and its offerings, but like the engine change-up, there has also been buzz about additional modifications. It's been said that the Genesis Coupe will continue to offer a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic, while the Grand Touring trim will be discontinued. The Ultimate trim is also rumored to be receiving optional brown leather upholstery and the R-Spec model could sport new LED running lamps.
There's no way to tell for sure if these rumors are true until we receive official word from Hyundai, but what we can guarantee is that Reliable Hyundai will be your number one spot for the 2015 model once it arrives!
