Hyundai Hope On Wheels is now in its 15th year. The program began in 1998 and has raised over $58 million dollars from the time of its start through 2012. All of the money has been donated to help subsidize much-needed childhood cancer research in America, which currently only receives a small fraction of funding - 3% to be exact - out of all the money the federal government provides for cancer research.
Today Hope on Wheels also offers excellent grant programs, including the Hyundai Scholar Grant which began in 2006 and the Hyundai Hope Grant which began in 2010. Within just a few short years, the Hope Grants have already helped provide the financial support needed to launch several incredible research projects that have led to the discovery of new treatments in the pediatric cancer field.
