During this year’s Super Bowl, Hyundai ran four different TV spots highlighting their vehicles, and out of the group of ads, the brand’s hilarious “First Date” commercial, featuring comedian Kevin Hart, won USA Today’s prestigious Ad Meter. This marks the first time an automotive company has won the coveted accolade and stands as a proud moment for Hyundai and the automotive world alike.
Created by Hyundai’s personal agency, INNOCEAN Worldwide, “First Date” is a 60-second spot that shows off the brand-new 2016 Hyundai Genesis and its collection of innovative tech features. In the ad, Kevin Hart utilizes Hyundai Blue Link Car Finder to monitor his daughter while she’s on a date. With ability to track everywhere the car the goes, Hart secretly shows up at every location in attempt to scare off his daughter’s suitor and it doesn’t take long for hilarity to ensue.
Viewed over 12 million times on YouTube alone, Hyundai’s “First Date” ad has been nothing short of a hit with fans, and USA Today’s Ad Meter, which gauge’s consumers’ opinions in regards to Super Bowl ads, proves this is true. In addition to beating out 63 different Super Bowl 50 commercials with “First Date,” the automaker’s other TV spots, “Ryanville” and “The Chase,” also ranked fifth and sixth respectively.
