The future is here and Hyundai's gearing up to take advantage of the technology advancements it has to offer. Throughout the past few years, we've seen smartphone integration become a signature fixture in many of today's most popular cars, trucks and SUVs, and although it's impressive, Hyundai's ready to take things to the next level. The Korean automaker recently announced that all-new 2015 Hyundai Genesis models will come with Google Glass integration, allowing drivers to access specific car functions through the wearable frames, and expanding the car's capabilities.
With the help of their cloud-based platform, Blue Link, Hyundai has decided to roll out a Glassware application that will give drivers the ability to utilize their Google Glass frames, while in the car. A host of apps to accompany the initiative, including Hyundai's newly introduced Car Care app, will also be launched when the Genesis goes on sale. Those who choose to sync Google Glass with Blue Link will be able access features such as vehicle finder, remote start and remote entry. Push notification alerts will also notify drivers when maintenance is needed, allowing them to make a call and schedule an appointment immediately.
"We see wearables as a technology trend, expanding from fitness and health monitoring to broader applications," Barry Ratzlaff, executive director, Customer Connect and Service Business Development, Hyundai Motor America. "As a leader in connected car technology, we're always exploring new ways to use technology to enhance the ownership experience for our customers. Wearables are a great way to extend the experience outside of the vehicle by leveraging these small screens to quickly access remote features and deliver timely vehicle information."
